Description of the course

The IRONMAN 70.3 Tallinn showcases Estonia’s coastal beauty and countryside. The race begins with a single-loop 1.9 km swim in the Baltic Sea at Stroomi Beach, where athletes start from the sandy shoreline and complete one counterclockwise loop in the sea waters.

The 90-kilometer bike course consists of two loops, beginning at the Stroomi transition area. Athletes cycle through picturesque southern villages before returning to Tallinn. Following completion of the second loop, participants head to the second transition area located at Rocca al Mare. The course offers a diverse experience combining both urban and rural roads.

The running segment covers 21.1 kilometers over two laps. Athletes are well-supported throughout with eight aid stations strategically positioned along the course, providing hydration approximately every 2.6 kilometers. The race utilizes a split transition format, with the first transition at Stroomi Beach and the second at Rocca al Mare.

The race concludes in front of the Rocca al Mare Shopping Centre, providing an excellent finish line experience. Athletes should note the split transition setup requires additional pre-race logistics planning to ensure proper gear placement at both transition locations.

Weather Conditions

Water temperature at Stroomi Beach: 17-20°C (62.6-68°F). Average air temperature: 15-22°C (59-71.6°F), moderate humidity. Wind speeds typically 8-15 km/h. Race day weather conditions tend to be optimal for racing with low precipitation risk. However, athletes should prepare for potential Baltic Sea chop and wind gusts during the swim portion. UV index ranges from moderate to high during race hours.
