Description of the course

Ironman Portugal Cascais kicks off with a swim at the vibrant and picturesque Ribeira Beach. Participants tackle a one-loop swim in the serene Bay of Cascais, known for its calm, crystal-clear waters, reaching depths of up to 7 meters.

The bike segment presents a demanding yet exhilarating two-loop route, meandering through the breathtaking Sintra Natural Park. This part of the course offers awe-inspiring views of the Atlantic coastline and includes a pass by the famed Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of Europe. A unique aspect of the bike course is the inclusion of the challenging ascents on the Estoril F1 race track, elevating the difficulty level for the athletes.

The run portion consists of three loops and guides participants along a scenic coastal path, weaving through the captivating town of Cascais and its lush surroundings. This segment is characterized by rolling hills and rigorous stretches that challenge the athletes’ endurance and mental strength. The event reaches its climax at the historic Fortaleza de Cascais, a prominent landmark overlooking the bay, providing a memorable and iconic conclusion to this formidable endurance race.
