Description of the course

Experience the stunning Middle Eastern landscape and architecture as you tackle this scenic half-distance triathlon through the heart of Bahrain.

The single-loop swim takes place in the protected waters surrounding Reef Island. Athletes begin their journey with a dive into the crystalline waters, following a rectangular “L”-shaped course marked by a series of left turns. The course provides excellent sighting opportunities and concludes with a straight shot back to the lagoon’s bank, where athletes transition to their bikes.

The bike segment features a single loop that showcases Bahrain’s most iconic landmarks. Starting from the transition area at Reef Island, cyclists embark on a journey that takes them past the impressive World Trade Centre, a testament to Bahrain’s modern architecture and economic prowess. The route continues to the world-famous Bahrain International Circuit, home to Formula 1 racing in the Middle East, before guiding athletes back to Reef Island. This course offers a perfect blend of urban scenery and desert landscapes throughout the ride.

The half-marathon consists of four loops, each starting and finishing at Reef Island. Runners follow a course that weaves through the bustling heart of the city, passing the impressive Financial Harbour before returning to the vibrant atmosphere of Reef Island. The multiple-loop format ensures excellent spectator support throughout the run portion, creating an energetic racing environment.
