IRONMAN Riviera Nayarit 70.3

Ironman Riviera Nayarit 70.3 Bike Course Preview: My Analysis

The Ironman Riviera Nayarit 70.3 is a new addition to the Mexico triathlon scene, taking place in the well known resort of Nuevo Nayarit on  November 10th, 2024.

Since this will be the inaugural race, there’s no official course data on Strava to confirm the bike course elevation gain. Please feel free to visit our web page dedicated  to Ironman Riviera Nayarit 70.3 race.

So, I took the organizer’s bike course map and recreated it on RideWithGPS, trying my best to be accurate. Turns out, it’s not an easy task as  race on closed road doesn’t follow road rules! I was constantly switching between Cycling, Driving, and Walking modes, and the app still manged to show some section as off road. My one lap course came out as 30.5 km.  This is in line with advertised 3 loop, 90 km course. Keep in mind this isn’t an exact replica of the Ironman Riviera Nayarit bike course; my main focus was on getting that elevation gain profile right.

The Official Information

Not so much to say here – according to the Ironman Riviera Nayarit 70.3 website, it’s a 90-kilometer, three-loop “almost flat” course with 236 meters of elevation gain.

As you can seen in the bike course elevation profile below – there is 126 meters of elevation gain per one lap. Total elevation gain for the race should be around 378 meters.

Hopefully this information will help to make informative decision selecting your next race in Mexico.
