Description of the course

IRONMAN Tallinn, set in Estonia’s captivating capital, traverses the stunning natural landscapes of Harju County.

The race commences with a swim in Harju Lake, where participants embark on a two-loop course in waters that are typically tranquil and lucid. The rolling start method is employed, ensuring an equitable and smooth transition to the cycling stage.

The cycling segment, consisting of three loops, offers a picturesque yet demanding route through the North Estonian Uplands. While primarily flat, the course includes rolling hills and stretches of forest, each loop presenting its distinct set of challenges. The first loop navigates the outskirts of Tallinn, featuring mild climbs and descents. The second loop ventures into the more formidable hills of the North Estonian Uplands, and the final loop brings athletes back to Tallinn, tracing the scenic coastline.

The running portion of IRONMAN Tallinn, spanning four loops, guides athletes through the heart of the city. It encompasses Tallinn’s historic Old Town, the seafront promenade, and the Olympic Park. This mostly flat course, with occasional mild inclines and declines, provides an excellent chance for athletes to make up time while immersing themselves in the vibrant essence of Tallinn.
